Tiny Steps, Big Futures
When one mother welcomed her second son, she already knew he faced significant challenges. Diagnosed before birth with a rare brain condition, doctors warned her to prepare for developmental delays and other serious complications.
Because she had previously participated in the Parents as Teachers (PAT) program with her older son, she knew the value of early intervention. Rather than waiting for delays to appear, she immediately reconnected with her Family Educator and advocated for early services. Although her son initially tested within the normal range, her concerns were taken seriously, and he began receiving speech therapy before falling behind.
Today, at nearly 20 months old, he is walking, talking, and meeting developmental milestones. His success is a testament not only to early intervention but also to a mother who never stopped advocating for her child.
Through Parents as Teachers, families gain more than resources—they gain the knowledge, confidence, and support to recognize concerns early, navigate complex systems, and give their children the strongest possible start in life.
