Tiny Steps, Big Futures

When Vannessa, a Family Educator with Imprints Cares’ Pediatric Parenting Connections (PPC) program, called a mother after her newborn missed a weight-check appointment, she had no idea how much that call would matter.

The mother of four young girls shared that she had fled her home country seeking safety. Fear surrounding her immigration status had kept her from accessing important services. Her six-year-old had never attended school in the United States or received a well-child checkup. Her other daughters were also behind on medical care.

Vannessa helped schedule appointments, guided Mom through school enrollment, and discovered another barrier: the family lacked car seats for safe transportation. Working with her team and the pediatric clinic, she secured car seats and personally delivered them.

Today, Mom is one document away from completing school enrollment, and Vannessa continues helping the family access needed care.

We can't help but wonder: What if Vannessa hadn't made that call? How much longer might these children have gone without the care and educational opportunities they deserve?

There is still work ahead, but one thing is clear: Vannessa's compassion and persistence may have changed the trajectory of these children's lives.
